P01 / P59 Custom OS Idle — Part 3 (Derivative Timing / Dashpot)

P01 / P59 Part 3:

This is the last one, I promise.

This controller spanned a lot of vehicles and years (1999–2007), and it is basically where a lot of us started (I started with the good ol’ 8051 SEE).

The last strategy change was adding derivative timing control. That gave much better precision on how quickly RPM falls. On cams with real overlap this matters — you can control dashpot / ramp-down the way you want. Coupled with the other strategies, return-to-idle gets smooth and controlled.

We did many other mods on these OSes too, including wideband closed-loop fueling support and launch-control changes — which, quite frankly, were mostly useless in the grand scheme of things.
